The challenge
More than 20 million pesos lost to shoplifting in two years and 1,024 incidents on the log, with suspects each store recorded as unknown.
What we did
Incidents were analyzed by store, hour and day, and the suspects’ face, build and context were matched against the gang registry another chain in the sector had documented. The engine proposes and a person confirms: nine anonymous suspects turned out to be members of documented gangs, and the biggest leak was not technological: the referral rate had fallen from 58% to 43%.
